Track Senior Spotlight

There are five senior tracksters this year. Taylor Gibson, Logan DeBoer, Ross Effling, Lyndsey Mack, and Sam Becht.

Talyor Gibson is the speed man of the group and has been out for track all six years. He runs the 100m dash, 200m dash, 400m dash, and the 800m run most of time in the 4X800m relay. His favorite events are the 200m dash and the 400m dash. His best place he has ever gotten was 1st place and he has done that a countless number of times. He plans to go to Nothern State University to play football and major in Business or pre physical therapy.

Logan DeBoer has also been out for track all six years and is the muscle man of the group. He throws shot put and discus. He cannot pick a favorite between the two so he just simply said, "My favorite events I do are shot and discus." Logan, like Gibson, has gotten 1st place many times. His plans for the future are very, well, unique. "I am going to shoot myself to the moon and have an awesome zero gravity dance party, or I might go to college at SDSU and get a degree in civil engineering, I havent decided yet," Logan said.

Ross Effling is the distance man of the five and has been in track for five years. He runs the 4x800m relay, the 1600m run (mile), and the 3200m run (2 mile). His favorite event is the 4x800m relay. "I like it because the pressure is on four guys as a team, not just myself to do it all," Ross said. He has gotten 2nd place twice this year individually and has recieved 1st place with his 4x800m relay team. He plans to go to SDSU and major in Computer Science after high school.

Lyndsey Mack is the utility trackster of sorts. This is because she does both running and throwing events. Lyndsey has been out for track for five years. She runs the 4x200m relay, the 4x400m relay, sometimes the 200m dash, and she throws shot put. "I like doing shot put because it doesn't involve me doing any running," Lyndsey said. She has placed first before in her career. She plans to go to SDSU and major in nursing after her time is done here at Deuel High School.

Sam Becht is the thrower girl of the group and she has been out for track for five years. For her events, she throws shot put and discus. Her favorite event is the discus throw. The best place she has ever gotten was 2nd place. After high school she plans to go to Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) for pre-med in the medical research field.
