BAND!

Mrs. Jolene Krause has been working with the 5-8th grade band members to get ready for a solo contest on the 30th of April and they will also be having their Spring concert May. It will be held here in Clear Lake at the school. Since it is a contest, many other schools from around the area will be attending like, Deuebrook, Estelline, Henry, Castelwood, and Waverly-South Shore. The students that are involved in it was given their music in January for their solos. Mrs. Krause said, "Some student will be ready but others may not because it depends on their work ethic. Being in the contest is a great opportunity for them to perform in front of people. The contests that the school is involved in has been sponsored by the South Dakota Bandmembers Association which has been going on for 40 years. The best part of the contest is it hopefully motivates stuents to perform well, know that they are standing there on their own performing for a judge. There is no hiding behind anyone else. The quote, "Failing to perpare is preparing to fail." is good to remember. It's fun to see which students really want to be good and put in the effort to be good.
