Texting is Not Okay

A bill has been okayed by the Senate to ban texting while driving. You are still allowed to use your phone to make calls, but any kind of sending and receiving a text message is banned. If you are caught texting while driving you could face a $500 fine and up to 30 days in jail.
I am definitely for this bill. I feel that texting and driving can lead to numerous car accidents and fatalities that could be avoided by just not doing it. In my mind, calls still aren't the safest thing to do, but I think they are better than sending a text message. This is because you can still keep your eyes on the road while having a phone conversation, but if you are texting, you are focused on the phone and not your driving. To avoid texting while driving, this bill should be passed.
