Facebook Affecting "Friendships"

An article from Teen Vogue magazine online talks about being cautious on the online social networks like Facebook and MySpace. It goes on to talk about teens being able to hide behind their technology. People can develop a completely different personality online, and then have another at school the next day. This is controversial because it can cause teens to second guess their friendships with other people. People may tend to over-share their whereabouts on Facebook, and this causes tension in relationships because if can make people jealous if you spend more time with someone else and publicize it.
I think the biggest issue "friends" need to overcome on Facebook is all the fighting. It's been said many times that people shouldn't hide behind the internet to fight with someone because they are afraid of face-to-face conflict. Conflict is actually a healthy part of sustaining a relationship with someone. You need to be able to fight fair, and overcome obstacles to prove your strong relationship with someone.

  1. i like this blog because i agree with "hiding from conflict." Too many people use the internet as a hiding place to escape confrontations. Don't let the internet control you and become a source for others to define you.
