Recent studies have shown that obesity has cost the United States $168 billion dollars in medical spending. People who are obese are more likely to get diseases than people who are physically fit. Their chances of getting diabetes, cancer, and heart disease are now increased just because they are obese. The treatment that they need for these diseases cost a lot of money that wouldn't need to be used.
Imagine if less people were obese, that money that is being spent could be put to good use instead of using it on something that can be fixed simply by eating healthier and exercising. If the amount of obese people keeps increasing, so will the United States' spending.
