Senior Jobs

Many seniors from Deuel High School are juggling school along with a job, but almost none of them receive recognition for their hard work. A few of these seniors are, Brittany Walkins, Anthony Schmahl, Jackie Martinmaas, and Cody Hoover.

Brittany Walkins works as a CNA at the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center here in Clear Lake. Walkins works 10-15 hours a week, and has worked as a CNA for a little over a year.

Anthony Schmahl works at Menards in Watertown and really enjoys working there. He works about 10 hours a week because he only works on the weekends during the school year. Schmahl said, “My least favorite part about the job would have to be going outside to get the carts and doing carry-outs in bad weather.”

Jackie Martinmaas has been a waitress at R Place for a couple months. Martinmaas also works with Kendra Kielty who attends Deuel High School aswell. Her least favorite part about the job is doing dishes.

Cody Hoover gets to work with Zach Block and Grant Martinmaas at Maynards in Clear Lake. Hoover said, “I enjoy my job, but every job tends to have it's ups and downs,” and his least favorite part about the job would be having to mop the entire store floor whenever he is in charge of closing. Hoover works about 15-20 hours a week.
