On ABC Family at 7 o' clock sharp started the third premiere of the Secret Life of the American Teenager. I watched all to most of the first season of the show but then when the second season came around I didn't have a care for it as much. This season seems to be a tad interesting again. Amy, the main character, got pregnant at band camp with a boy named Ricky. They had a baby boy, John. This season John is almost two I would say and they are now trying to become a couple and make it work out. Then there is Ben, who is Amy's ex-boyfriend who had always been there for Amy. He is now expecting a baby girl with Adrienne, Ricky's old "fling". In previews to this season both couples look like they are planning on asking their fortunate other to get married. Personally this show talks a lot about sex and what can happen with the effects of having it. Which isn't always bad, but I almost felt like they are pursuing to have sex with all the talk of it throughout the hour episode. They do show what it is like to be pregnant in high school for a teenage girl with the ups and downs, but that school is nothing like Deuel High School in Clear Lake, SD. The show almost shows the joys of being with a child in high school isn't so hard. Do shows involving teen pregnancy send the wrong message? Maybe teen pregnancy is contagious?
