Black Hills Bound

My huge family reunion in the Black Hills always comes into mind when I think about all of my favorite places I've been to. In 2005, my mom's side of the family rented out a huge cabin in the Black Hills so everyone could be together for a week. There were about 30 people in a cabin to "comfortably" sleep 18 people. It wasn't too crowded except for the occasional air mattress in the living room. My family from Alaska and Texas flew in, but mostly everyone is from South Dakota anyways.
We spent the days going to Mt. Rushmore, Reptile Gardens, and Bear Country. My favorite place to go was Evan's Plunge in Hot Springs. The water was nice and warm and it was fun to hang out with my little cousins for a while. During the evenings, we'd travel into Deadwood and eat supper and go to the casinos, but that was my cue to head back to the cabin. My favorite memory was the day before we left, we grilled out on the deck, and my uncle gave my grandpa his guitar and he'd play songs from a looong time ago, some of which I was "too young" for.
All in all, it was a great vacation, but the week went by too fast. I would love to go back to the Hills and discover some more places I've never been to before.
