When you see the title “Video Chatting” I'm sure you think that students should not be able to use it in school. I think that the students in schools should be able to use video chatting during school but only for the use of good. When I say for the use of only good I mean for when students are home sick.
Everyone along with myself knows about the video chatting options there are out there now days. When we first got the Mac computers everyone got Ichat, which is a video chatting program. When people had this they found a way to get around it and were using it in school when they were not suppose to. So, when computer technicians found that out they blocked it last year because of what people where doing. Another video chatting option that is out there now would be Skype, this also got blocked.
I don't think they should have been blocked. I understand why they were since they were not used the right way. One reason I don't think they should have been blocked is it could be a big help if the school unblocked it. The help that it would do is help sick people be at school. When I say that I mean that someone could start a video chat with the person that is sick that way they can be at school while they are at home sick. When students are home sick I'm sure they don't want to be at school at all but if students are sick they miss what the teacher talks about in class and then fall behind on what they are learning in that class.
If a student is sick they should unblock video chatting for the student that is gone and only that student. For the ill students to be able to participate in class then it would be beneficial for teachers to have the class available on Ichat or Skype. Take geometry class for example: If you are home sick one day and go back to school the next you are behind a day in the class and you may not have any idea on what is going on in the class. If there was video chatting at school then the students would not be behind because they could be in class and ask questions and get the assignment.
I agree with you and I think this is well written.

ReplyDeleteIt's a good idea, but that would probably be a hassle!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great story and a great idea, but do you think the staff would allow this?
ReplyDeleteVery good idea, i believe that would be very beneficial!
ReplyDeleteAnother use for it could for speakers. Say if they aren't able to make it in. They could still speak without actually being there.
ReplyDeleteLena,
ReplyDeleteI agree with out but what if that certain speaker doesn't have a computer with a camera on it? In order to video chat they will need a computer to do the chatting.
Ashely M,
ReplyDeleteI think they would if it was beneficial to the person that was gone.
If you are really sick, do you think that you could actually be at home on your computer? If so, I think that the idea is good, but when I am sick, I'm usually not able to be on the computer.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Walder,
ReplyDeleteI am on the computer when I am sick, but only with certain sicknesses like if you are home with a really bad cold, or something else but if you are throwing up then I understand why you are not on the computer.
Okay, well, that sounds like a pretty good idea Jenna!
