Summer flies by in a blink of an eye. Everyone spends the whole school year learning, doing homework, and participating in many school activities. Not saying that is a bad thing, but a break is much needed after that.
We begin our school year in about mid August when the summer heat is at its peak and the lake is the only place people want to be. Our last day of school will be the week after graduation weekend on the last day of May which is pretty good but this only means we should go back later.
Summertime is full of many benefits and many fun activities. The benefits of summertime would include working, everyone needs to work during the summer to make money for college because what is the point of going to school to receive your knowledge if you can't afford to further your education? Working during the summer in a longer period of time will help out with not having to work as much during the school year and you can just concentrate on your studies.
Some more benefits are being able to sleep in! Yes, you might have to work that day or have to wake up and work but you can sleep in if you don't work and if you do work you will be able to go jump in the lake afterward.
Summer like I said includes a lot of fun activities and everyone knows what they are. There is nothing you can't do during the summer besides winter activities. The summer activities include, swimming, tubing, fishing, camping, bonfires, rodeo, walks, and much, much more. How can everyone only fit all of this excitement in two and a half months?
I think that if the summer vacation was lengthened to after Labor Day it would be the perfect amount of time to fulfill all of the summer wants. Starting after Labor Day would also balance out the school year with the summer and it would make for many happy kids. Summer is a time to be social, make money, and have fun! So together lets all lengthen our summertime.

ReplyDeleteDear Taylor, I agree with this very much. Sometimes it just feels like the summer flies by and you don't even remember that much of it. And starting after Labor Day would be nice because then we could celebrate the holiday without school getting too much in the way of things! (:
ReplyDeleteJune isn't even warm enough sometimes that it isn't considered summer for me, August surely is warm enough. Hopefully this could happen soon? :)
