My opinion on our school parking is that there is no where near enough parking around our school. Students could be late for their first period class because they can't find a place to park in the morning. We have a back parking lot where most of the high schoolers park but maybe you are running late one day and all of those spots are gone. If this happens, you have to get out of the parking lot and find another spot somewhere along the street. Chances are that spot is probably at least 1 block away. You have now wasted about 10 minutes trying to find a spot and you could be late for school. Now you might have a tardy and if you are a senior you have your privileges taken away for a while. If we had more parking, all of these issues could be resolved.
Some people should also learn how to park. They take up two spots causing there to be that one less spot that someone could have taken. In the winter time its not such a big deal because snow covers the lines anyway. When there is no snow on the ground, there is no reason that people shouldn't be able to see the lines.
Families should drive to school together to prevent extra, unneeded cars sitting at the school taking up space. If you have siblings that go to school in the morning and leave in the afternoon when school gets out at the same time you do, there is no reason that you couldn't ride together so that other people could have that parking spot. I think it would be the considerate thing to do.
Not only is there a problem with parking near the school, but also by the gymnastics building. Sometimes people come more than half an hour before just so that they don't have to park two blocks away. Gymnastics is in the winter time so it is cold and when you have to walk that far it is no fun in the cold. It gives people a greater chance of slipping on the icy roads because they have almost doubled the distance to walk.
I don't know where this new parking lot can go, but all I know is that we definitely could use some more parking. A new parking lot would save students time and would just all around help everything out!

I agree with this. I think parking lots should be bigger..even though I do not have a car when I car pool it is not fun to have to park in a whole different location and then walk to the back parking lot thinking you parked back there like usual but remember its on the opposite side of the school.

ReplyDeleteThis is very true. Even thought I don't drive to school all that often I have once in a while though and it has been a hassle on parking in the back. I think we should get a bigger parking lot.
ReplyDeleteI agree! We do need more parking in the back, but I can sometimes understand people parking with a little extra space between cars. It winter and sometimes things get slippery and maybe they are just trying to be more cautious of other cars. But it doesn't seem fair when people park crooked and end up taking up so many spots.
