Ever think about what you want to do when you get older and do in college? I have and it is difficult thinking about it. I have definitely changed my mind a few times too. I am only a sophomore but the time to decide will be right around the corner.
Having a few classes that help out with college would be nice in high school. I personally think that having a class in high school that tells you what you can do in a class in college would help out some people with making their minds on what they want to do. A class that helps you save money better would help out too. Going to college classes for a week, for example, out of your senior year would be helpful. In my high school in Clear Lake, SD we are allowed to take a few college classes and get credits for them. I plan on taking them and getting ahead of the game, which should help. But that doesn't help me decide what I want to do for the rest of my life. I wish our school had more design or art classes. I want to do something with fashion design, as of right now. More classes with business and money wouldn't hurt either to be an addition to Deuel or even just some more variety of classes could be great for some students. By the beginning of colleges of student's sophomore year, one out of four students will leave college. I think their main reason for dropping out is because they didn't know what they wanted to do or they didn't expect how hard the classes were for them. There are many other reasons as well of course. Having classes ahead of time would be less stressful for students as well. Maybe even having the whole class make trips to colleges would be nice as well, just to figure out what college suits you best.
College can be a fun experience, but it wouldn't be too much fun if you are playing catch up with classes or changing your major. Everything for college would be easier if there were more class opportunities to let students get a little knowledge about what goes on. I know you don't have to have everything about college classes in high school but I'm just saying a few wouldn't hurt.
I think this would be very beneficial!
ReplyDeleteI think this sounds really interesting. What type of class would you like to take? Would an entire class on careers be what you are thinking?
ReplyDeleteVery good editorial but isn't personal finance a class that would help you handle your money?
ReplyDeleteI would like to take more of a design class for either any room in a house or building or even fashion I think would be fun. That is what I'm thinking about doing for college right now but we will see what happens. An entire class on careers would be something that would be nice to start out with, then branch off to more options.
ReplyDelete--Well I'm not that far with my class of personal finance yet so I'm not sure if it does help you with handling your money, but a class that would just focus on that would be nice.
