Big news from the SDHSAA, (South Dakota High School Activities association). Our Deuel Cardinal girls are, with a record of 12-1, number 4 in th SDHSAA coaches poll. The girls got 52 votes to edge out Baltic for the 4 spot. According to Keloland.com, these are the rankings.

2. Pine Ridge 13-1
3. St. Thomas More 14-1
4. Deuel 12-1
5. Baltic 12-2
6. Sioux Valley 10-4
7. Newell 12-1
8. Parkston 12-2
9. Clark-Willow Lake 8-2
10. Sisseton 10-3
Others receiving votes: Stanley County 11-2, Winner 11-4, Lennox 9-5.
The Deuel girls basketball team defeated Grant- Deuel 68-21 with Jenna V. the leading scorer in that game with 14 points. Then the girls beat distric foe, Duebrook 56-43 with Jayda S. having 16 points in that one. Then they had a huge win against region opponent and then 10th ranked Webster 50-45. Jenna V. had 15 points in that game as well. Just last Tuesday the girls crossed the boarder to Canby, MN. The girls defeated the, "Lancers," 52-44. Today the girls travel all the way to Roncalli for an NEC matchup against the, "Lady Caveliers." Then on this coming Tuesday the biggest matchup by far this year comes to town. Number 6 Sioux Valley will play number 4 Deuel. This will be for number one in the district. Many also believe that the winner of our district will go on to state. Then on Friday a NEC and region rival will be another tough and interesting game when Clark/Willow Lake comes here.
The Deuel boys are off to a 9-5 start this season. Last Thursday the boys traveled to Webster and defeated them 39-35. Chance Olerud had 14 points in that game. Last Saturday they went to Arlington in a rescheduled game from the 13th. The boys beat up on Arlington 46-27. District rival Deubrook cam to town on Tuesday and that was a great game. The boys ended up losing 57-61 in overtime. Chance Olerud was the leading scorer in that one as well with 17 points. The boys travel to Roncalli to take on the number 9 ranked team in the state. Then on Tuesday number 5 Sioux Valley comes to town in a big district matchup. Then on Thursday the boys travel to Clark and on Saturday the boys go to Castlewood.
