This year only one person Ross Effling is going to the all state band auditions. Then from there if they got chosen they get to join the band. The auditions are on Friday January 16th in Brookings. About every year that the all state band auditions have been going on Deuel have been going. Once they get there they have a 7 minute audition to impress the judge people. It is decided buy who can play the best scales, sight reading and who does the best on the written test. The band is announced on February 14th at the state music convention.
Ross says,” I always thought that it would be cool to go to Rapid City for All State Band. Also, I was really close to making it last year, and I feel that I have a really good chance at making it this year.” This year it is his second year going out for the all state band. There is a specific song he is going to play and it is called Andante et Allegro. The song was composed by Barat.
