The South Dakota State University (SDSU) Jackrabbit women entered Lubbock, Texas, the site of their first ever NCAA National Tournament game, hoping to show everyone in the nation what they could do. Sunday night they did exactly that.
“I got home with about six minutes gone and it was 33-8,” fan Mike Dahl said. The Jacks hit 16 three-point baskets to tie a school record and a NCAA tournament game record. They ended up winning the game 90-55 to move on and face the Baylor Lady Bears in the second round.
The Jackrabbit women got, “shafted,” on most thoughts by getting a number seven seed which was a rather high seed for them to get. Most people believed they would get a five or a six, possibly even a four seed. They gave the NCAA selection committee a, “kick in the mouth,” by beating number 10 seed Texas Christian University (TCU ) by 45 points.
The second round game against Baylor is 29-28 Jackrabbit advantage at halftime. More to come on that game tomorrow.
