Sporting Recaps from the last week

From the week January 19-27 This is how the sporting events went.

The Girls basketball team continues their tear as they defeated Flandreau 57-44 and then ranked 8th Sisseton 48-42. In the Flandreau game Ashley Hansen led the Cardinals with 14 points. In the Sisseton game Jenna VanDyke had 14 to lead the Cardinals. The Deuel girls have a 9-1 overall record, a 5-0 record in the NEC, and a 3-1 record in the LCC. Since the girls lost their first game of the season to Castlewood, they have 9 in a row. They are also ranked number 9 in the State A rankings. The girls take on Duebrook on Thursday and Webster on Friday.

The Boys basketball team had four games in the week. They lost a heart-breaker to Flandreau 48-49, Travis V. had 22 points leading the Cardinals. The Boys also lost to Sisseton 36-62 Travis led the team again with 9 points. On Saturday The boys defeated the Flandreau Indian School 67-42. Nathan Drake had 20 points to lead the Cardinals. Yesterday the boys also defeated Grant-Deuel 39-26 to win the Deuel Marker. The next game for the boys is Thursday at Webster and then Saturday at Arlington.

The wrestlers had one meet last week. Clark/Willow Lake and Britton came to Deuel. The Cardinals won both meets which was great for the team to beat Clark/Willow Lake who had a full team. Adam, Richie, Jordan, Derek, Dwayne, Spencer, Lance, and Mark won both of their matches. The wrestlers go to Chester today, Groton on thursday, and Parker on Saturday

The gymnists had a home meet last week and won it. They went to Watertown and got 5th out of 10. This was a tough meet as Deuel was one of only 2 B teams there. Sam Wiekamp got 2nd overall and Alex Stein recieved 15th. The gymnists go to Milbank today
