State FFA Convention

Every FFA competitor deserves an award once and awhile. To celebrate FFA and to recognize schools from different counties in South Dakota, there was a reward ceremony at SDSU on the 18th through the 20th of April. In order for the students to attend, they had to participate in at least two competitions throughout the year up until this State Awards Ceremony. At the FFA State Convention you must wear official dress, which usually consists of the traditional FFA jacket and black dress pants or a skirt.

At the convention there are speeches that are given from State Officers and awards delivered to specific people for judging whichever category of their choosing. There are also chapter awards given as well. "The most interesting thing about FFA is that there are a lot of people involved in it," said senior Nicole Pederson. Pederson judges horses, because it's something that she really enjoys doing. Pederson said, "FFA will benefit my future, because I plan to go into a ag/animal related field. So as you can see State Convention is very important and worth attending."
