BuffPuff Volleyball

Thursday, after school, something quite unusual happened. Three teams of all boys played volleyball to be crowned, “BuffPuff Volleyball 2009 Champions.” The boys have been ready for this even for several weeks. The Juniors had there own shirts made and they’ve had them for well over a month and a half. “Dude, we are going to dominate. I’m pumped,” Spencer S. said. The other two teams were not as enthused but still ready to fight for the championship. There were only three teams because the Freshman forfeited because they did not have enough players.
The first match was the most anticipated game of the two. The game was between the Seniors and the Juniors. The first game of the match looked like a flop and a blow-out. The Juniors jumped to a 5-0 then a 7-2 lead. Then, with the help of ace server, Travis V., the Seniors cam back and tied the game 8-8. The game was tied all the way through the 15-15 point. The rules are go to 15 and win by two. But the game was tied, so they went farther. The Juniors won the game 19-17 in a first game thriller. The second game started the same as the first. The Seniors went down 8-3 then came back and made the score 12-10 in favor of the Juniors. The Juniors went on to win 15-12 to send the Seniors home empty handed.
The next game meant redemption for the Seniors as they took on the Sophomores. The Sophomores looked like they were primed for an upset as they started up 8-0. “What are we doing?!” Lance H. said. So with that in mind, the Seniors turned it around and won the game 15-13. “How did that happen?” Tyson R. said. He said it in disgust because of the large lead the Sophomores let slip through their fingers. The second game the Seniors did not need as large of a come-back because they only started down 4-0 then won the game pretty handily 15-9. The Seniors ended their night 1-1 and in second place.
The third and final game of the night was between the Juniors and the Sophomores. The Juniors struggled with the pesky Sophomores but took them both games. The Juniors won the Second Annual 2009 BuffPuff Tournament Championship by going 2-0 and winning some close and interesting games along the way. “I guess I don’t care too much that we lost, I had fun anyway,” Mark Sherman said.

Standings:
1. Juniors 2-0
2. Seniors 1-1
3. Sophomores 0-2
4. Freshman ---
