Out of Class Reading by: Brooke and Tasha
The sophomores in Mrs. Walder’s English class are presenting their out of class reading assignments. We talked to Hillary Lopez, Brock Hanten, and Alyssa Becht about what they are doing for their book reports. Hillary read the Buddha’s Diamonds. She said, “The most interesting part of the book is when the boy wants to take responsibilities for his family.” Alyssa Becht read Danger in the Shadows. Her book report is in a conflict and resolution form. She said, “I really love all the characters in my book.” She also said, “Presenting makes us more comfortable in front of our peers and public speaking.” Brock Hanten read Halo: The Cole Protocol. For his presentation he did a “wanted” poster. Brock said, “The action and fighting scenes are very detailed and fun to read.” This book is part of a series. We all learn from this that is good to do this in front of the class because it makes us less nervous and worried when we give speeches or talk in groups of people.
